New Beer Filings — Week of September 7, 2026
Every beer label approved this week, extracted and indexed the day it cleared. Cite it, screenshot it, link it — this page doesn't change.
The Friday PourWatch one filing from this week's plate
The Lede
227 filings this week against a trailing average of 472.6. Less than half. I went back through the count twice assuming I'd miscategorized something, and no, the corpus just went quiet.
Whatever's driving it isn't visible in the filings themselves, since the ones that did come through look completely normal: Heineken re-upping label variants, Fonta Flora splitting a barleywine into "full birthday" and "half birthday" versions of the same 12% beer, Church Street backfilling Trappist-technique Belgians for a client brand. Ordinary paperwork season, just less of it.
I'm not going to pretend I know why. Federal filing volume moves for reasons that have nothing to do with beer, holiday timing, backlog clearing, an examiner out sick. But 227 versus 472.6 is a big enough gap that I'm telling you: it's worth watching if next Friday bounces back or if this is the new baseline. One data point isn't a trend. Two would be.
The Drops

The Numbers
- 227 filings this week (trailing 8-week average: 472.6/wk — volume is cooling)
- IPA: 72 filings; Lager: 56; Sour: 24 (top three hold 70% of the week)
- Strong ales up to 15 filings in the last 4 weeks vs. 12 the 4 weeks prior — a small move, but it's moving
- Kegs: 94; Packaged: 133 (bottles and cans still outpace draft by ~29%)
- Imports: 15 (6.6% of the week)
Stat of the week: Sour filings (24) now outnumber every style except IPA and Lager — a three-year-ago stat this would've been noise.
Grail Watch
- Fanatical Minds (Oskar Blues) — one grail. Filed early July; still pre-release.
- Pickles Will Prevail (Westbrook Brewing) — one grail. A pickle beer that somehow landed on a grail list; filed mid-June.
No landings this week with filing-to-shelf data available.
Label of the Week

Static Bloom's whole label is one Art Deco temple built from a firework: three layers of that starburst radiating out of a keystone motif, coral and teal and periwinkle stacked without a single muddy transition. Whoever built this understood repetition as a design tool, not a shortcut. The small compass-point stars scattered around the main burst do real work, they keep your eye moving instead of parking on the logo, and the arched black windows at the bottom read like a train station facade at 2am.
No artist credit printed anywhere on this one, which is a shame, because I'd want to know whose hand this is.
On the counter right now: a Maui Brewing Company hazy I pulled from the back of a friend's fridge last Tuesday, still cold enough to matter.
This week on the federal register of American beer.
