The artwork

A stylized tree rendered in burnt orange and copper tones dominates the center of the label against a photographic background of moss, lichen, and forest floor in muted greens and browns. The tree's gnarled trunk and twisted branches fill the composition with organic line work, suggesting both age and movement. The brewery name appears in script across the top in cream, with the beer name centered below in large white capitals, and a circular emblem containing a simplified tree motif anchors the upper left.

From the label

Needles is an American IPA crafted in honor of the trees that bring color to our frozen landscapes. Pouring a glowing orange hue, heaps of foam rise above the glass like fresh snowdrifts. A blend of some of our favorite Pacific Northwest hops, including Nugget, Centennial, Simcoe, and Chinook, bursts with notes of pine resin, woody spice, and bright citrus zest. These aggressive, hoppy aromas are tempered by notes of bready malt and a fluffy body. The dead of winter is left abandoned as creatures burrow into the earth, and the buzzing, blooming life outside has fled to fairer weather. In the unforgiving light, foxes prowl and deer dart under a brooding flock of crows. Soon enough, darkness spills silently through the trees, save for the owls' query and coyotes' ghostly cries. Hunters, scavengers, and tricksters remain, knocking the drift off dark-green branches whose needles stretch like the creep of ice across a window.

The filing names its hops — Nugget, Centennial, Simcoe… — which is enough for a real starting point.
