From the label

Everything Happens for a Reason We begin with Reason Black, laid down in French Oak for more than a year. The rich, roasty notes of the base beer develop hints of baking spice and its resinous hop quality picks up floral, oaky aromas from the wood. The result is a beer crafted to evoke the deep forests that typify the region for which it is named. Drink fresh or cellar for a year or more.
