This week's highlights

Looking for Texas brewery events this weekend? Saturday, Nov 7, is the crowded day. Per Spindletap Brewery's newsletter, its 11-Year Anniversary Party starts at 11 AM in Houston, and Barrow Brewing Company says the 65th Annual Scottish Gathering and Highland Games is that day in Salado.

On the beer side, Martin House Brewing Company's newsletter says Pretzel Stout has been released in Fort Worth.

I'll say it flatly: a pretzel stout is a style choice I understand. Stouts generally lean on roasted malt, with notes like coffee and dark chocolate, and a pretzel angle suggests something bready and salty alongside. That's my read of the style, not a description from Martin House.

Longtab, in San Antonio, has a quieter Saturday night in mind.
