The artwork

A stylized lion head in gold and cream occupies the center of the label against a dark navy ground. The mane is rendered with bold, angular strokes, and the face is frontal with defined white eyes and whiskers. The brewery name MAC & JACK'S appears in white sans-serif type below the lion, with the beer name AFRICAN AMBER centered above in white capitals. A script logotype for Mac & Jack's Brewing Co. runs vertically along the right edge in white script lettering.

From the label

In 1993, an Amber went on tap at the Park Pub in Seattle, steps from the Woodland Park Zoo's Serengeti exhibit. The bartender topped the tap handle with a cheetah figurine which patrons mistook for a lion. The new brew was a hit, and African Amber has been paired with a lion ever since.
