“The U. S. Life Saving Service (USLSS), predecessor to the U. S. Coast Guard has been protecting mariners on the Great Bay of NJ since 1849. In 1915 the USLSS merged with the Revenue Cutter Service to form the U.S. Coast Guard. Today that proud mission of saving lives is still strong on Southern NJ waters and throughout the country. Pinelands salutes this incredible service for all they do today and throughout history. Bravo Zulu Coast Guard.”
