This is the 2nd of 24 filings we hold from Brewery Ommegang. It is one of 15 barrel-aged stout labels approved in January 2019. It cleared 47 days after it was filed. The label carries barrel-aged on the front.
From the label“Label explicitly states 'BOURBON BARREL ADORATION' as the beer name and 'BELGIAN-STYLE NÖEL ALE BREWED WITH SPICES. AGED IN BOURBON BARRELS.' The style descriptor and barrel-aging are clearly printed on the front label. ABV 10.5% and volume 15.5 U.S. gallons (56.78 L / 58,781 ml) are stated. This is a keg collar label. The producer statement reads 'BREWED BY BREWERY OMMEGANG COOPERSTOWN, NY, USA' with no 'FOR' clause, indicating self-production. The TTB class code 906 (Malt Beverage Specialties - Flavored) reflects the spiced Belgian nöel base with barrel aging, which is consistent with a barrel-aged specialty ale. While the base is a Belgian nöel (spiced), the barrel-aging in bourbon is the defining characteristic that places it in barrel_aged_stout per taxonomy rules (barrel-aged trumps other modifiers). The high ABV (10.5%) and bourbon barrel aging are the dominant identity markers.”
